HANDMADE ENGAGEMENT RING PROCESSES
Under the guidance of our craftsmen, you will create your own engagement ring. You may make the ring alone or you may come to the store together to work on it. The engagement ring can be made in platinum or K18 gold in just 3 hours, from the lettering to shaping, welding, surface treatment, and diamond setting. The base price includes the diamond. The completed engagement ring can be taken home the same day.

The price for DIY engagement ring workshop is determined by the size of diamond (carat), width, and add-ons. The choice of metal (e.g. platinum and 18k gold) poses no influence on the final cost.

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
In MITUBACI TOKYO's engagement ring workshop, you will handcraft the ring portion. Choose from our selection of platinum and colored 18k gold; our most popular materials are platinum and our original 18k champagne gold. Select your preferred diamond carat from 0.1ct, 0.2ct, 0.3ct, 0.5ct, or 0.7ct and it will be set by our craftsmen on the spot on the ring you have made. Other than 0.1ct diamonds, all diamonds come with a certificate of authenticity.
Like the image above, you may also wish to opt for senban finishes for a more refined and professional look.
MITUBACI TOKYO engagement rings can also be completed on the same day. This is great for those who require the ring urgently. The ring contour is simple and straight, making it perfect to stack with your wedding rings. It is also possible to make your wedding bands concurrently with your engagement ring.
PREMIUM QUALITY DIAMONDS
MITUBACI engagement rings are made with premium quality diamonds. We offer diamonds graded F color or higher, SI-1 or higher, and triple excellent or higher for the sizes between 0.1 to 0.3ct. You may select a grade of a 0.5ct/0.7ct diamond depending on your preference and budget. We also provide a certificate of authenticity as proof of quality.
There is an international standard for diamonds called the 4Cs, which is an objective way to evaluate diamonds. 4C stands for Carat, Color, Clarity, and Cut.
A carat is a unit of weight of a diamond. 1 carat is 0.2 g. MITUBACI offers five types of diamonds: 0.1 ct, 0.2 ct, 0.3 ct, 0.5 ct, and 0.7 ct.
Diamonds are classified between D (colorless) and Z (light yellow); MITUBACI Tokyo offers diamonds with F color or higher, which is classified as "colorless".
Clarity is an evaluation of a diamond's transparency. It is broadly divided into six categories. In descending order of evaluation, they are FL, IF, VVS, VS, SI, and I. They are further divided within each category, comprising a total of 11 grades.
The GIA Diamond Clarity Scale has six categories, some of which are subdivided, totaling to 11 grades.
MITUBACI Tokyo offers diamonds that are SI-1 (inclusions can be seen under 10x magnification) or higher.
Cut is an evaluation of a diamond's balance, symmetry, and polish. While color and clarity are the innate properties of a diamond, cut is an evaluation of the workmanship. The cut is divided into five grades: Excellent, the highest grade available at MITUBACI Tokyo, and Triple Excellent, the highest grade for overall evaluation, symmetry, and polish.
- Diamonds of 0.2 ct. or more come with a certificate of authenticity booklet from the CGI. While diamonds of 0.1 ct. do not come with a certificate of authenticity booklet, a simple certificate of authenticity is available upon request.
- While workshop participants can complete most of the ring-making process by themselves, our artisans will take over the stone setting process as it is more complicated.
- All diamonds provided by MITUBACI Tokyo are natural diamonds.

Design and surface finish
Snowflake texture is recommended for engagement rings. This texture works well with both platinum and gold, and together with the sparkle of diamonds, they emphasize the overall brilliance of the engagement ring.
Plain
The mirrored finish is a timeless classic. It may look simple, but a lot of work goes into achieving a beautifully polished look! The sense of satisfaction lies in watching your jewelry shine after repeated sanding and buffing. The color of the gold is emphasized when matted.
Hammered
With reflections like shimmering water surfaces, this is the most popular texture. This texture is created with a round-tipped hammer. Every piece of jewelry has a unique pattern as it is formed depending on how one wields the hammer. A matted hammered surface gives it a subtler appearance.
Foresta
Reminding one of the forests and trees, foresta texture is achieved using a hammer with a flat tip. A wider ring gives a closer resemblance to the tree trunk. Polished or matte, this texture is perfect for those who want a nature theme wedding band.
Snowflake
A texture resembling a snow flurry. This texture is best matched with platinum but also looks glamorous in gold. Choose to polish your ring for an emphasized look or mattify for a gentle glow.
Frost
This texture resembles frost on the window in winter. Achieved using a specially made hammer, every ring with the frost texture is one-of-a-kind as the pattern forms differently in the hands of different people. Keep the surface polished to enhance the texture, and mattify it for a subtle finish.
Stella
Stella means star in Italian, and as its name suggests, this texture resembles the captivating raining stars. Combine it with stones of your choice for an even more personalized look.
ENGRAVING
Just like other workshop menu at MITUBACI TOKYO, customers may engrave their names and initials, special dates, or even messages at no additional cost. You can choose between hand engraving by yourself with metal stamps for an enhanced handmade vibe (left) and hand engraving with engraving machine done by our artisans for a neater result (right).
Alternatively, you may opt for laser engraving to include Japanese, Chinese, emojis, or handwritten characters on your jewelry (additional charges will incur).

We offer premium diamonds of grade F or more colorless, clarity of SI-1 or better, and triple excellent cut or higher.
Rings made with us can always be cleaned free of charge. First time resizing is also free. The second and subsequent resizing will be chargeable for a basic fee of 5,500 yen per ring.
Yes, you can take it home on the same day. Please note that there is a 1.5 to 2 hour waiting time for add-on options such as stone setting and laser engraving.
Yes, we provide original ring boxes to customers who opt for handmade wedding bands and handmade engagement ring workshops.
Yes. Our workshop allows customers to make a total of 3 rings on the very same day.
